Setting intentions instead of resolutions

Setting intentions.

Finding balance is a lifetime project. It is ongoing. It is not a finite goal that at the end you will have a peaceful, calm and meaningful life. Balance is a way of living. It is a process. Since it is the New Year (can we get an amen), and building on the theme of self reflection, make it part of your weekly routine.

When deciding how to find balance in your life, you may want to revisit a few key questions.

What is missing in my life? If something is missing, how do I commit to make more space for it?

How am I using my time? Is it being used wisely or have I fallen into patterns of scrolling social media or binge watching shows every night?

Am I taking anything for granted? Friends? Family? My health? Real human connection?

And most importantly, am I living true to myself?

Last but not least, remember that accomplishments and failures are part of balance. Most of us have experienced both, but we may not pay equal attention to both. If you focus too much on your failures, you will miss small moments of success. Try to notice the positive and if you find yourself thinking about the negative, ask yourself why. What are you afraid of? If you fall into a rut that’s okay. Give yourself grace. Go back to the positive when you can. That’s called balance.
